The Arcam amp is an excellent choice IMO.
The OPPO BDP-105 is the unit I would recommend for a CD/SACD player. It is $1200, and a bargain at the price!
I think it is the best-sounding player that can be had for under $8000 or so.
I sold my $6000 Ayre C5xe/MP player after hearing it.
If that is more than you want to spend, the Marantz CD-6005 is very good (CD only), for $500.
The GraceDigital Solo is a wonderful internet radio receiver/player, for only $90! It comes with 10K+ stations programmed in and organized by musical genres, geographic locations worldwide, and other categories. I love it.
What did you have in mind for speakers; budget and size?
Hi,
Many thanks, really great to have your feedback. Whilst the OPPO BDP-105 looks a fantastic system, it is probably more than i would like to spend, however the Marantz CD-6005 looks a very good product and meets the criteria as far as budget is concerned. I will pop into a store and take a listen to the pairing.
As far as speakers are concerned, i think my Arcam Muso should do me for a few months initially, then i was thinking either the B&W 686s or the Keff LS50 speakers. Have you anything you can throw into the mix?
Thanks
I am not a fan of the 686s. The CM5 is a much better speaker for the same money as the Kef LS50s if you like B&Ws. Check out the Revel Performa3 M105s, the Dynaudio Excite x14, Monitor Audio Silver 6s ans the PSB image and Imagine lines. You might also consider the Wharfedale Jades. Any one of those is worth looking at. I own the Revels.
