do you want stereo or surround? anyway if you are willing to read a little I would check out the book "The Complete Guide to HighEnd Audio". It is a great introduction to the hobby./
Hi asobe,
thanks for answering. I would prefer surround. Maybe you or someone else can give me a few hints; tips/tricks.
I will check the book you recommended.
Cheers
Hey Juke,
At your budget, surround is very limited do to the amount of speakers you need. You can get a decent home theater in a box
for $600 they are not too shaby for the price.Brands I recommend in your range are Onkyo(prefered) or Yamaha. But if your budget is only including amps. You would not be able to afford a preamp/processor plus a 7channel amp. SO, Your only option is to purchase a receiver, again I prefer Yamaha or Onkyo for around $600.Receivers come stuffed with all kind of goodies. They are great for geting into this hobby. That is how I started.I would be gald to help with specific questions.Start subscribing to magazines like stereophile guide to hometheater and Sound and Vision.
Stereophile is high end(i.e. Expensive) but every now and then they throw us a bone.Sound and Vision is for those of us on a budget.I still recommend Stereophile because you can learn alot about what is expected from the "best" equipment. One more thing you will hear this alot and its true"Let your ears be the judge"Goodluck
Hi asobe,
yeah I was also considering to buy a reciever + some nice 5+1 surround speakers. I ve noticed that it is possible to buy e.g. Onkyo or Yamaha system for 600$ (cca. 3600 kn - Croatian currency).
I live and work in Croatia and my sallary doesn't allow me to by high end stuff. Same goes for stereophile magazine
Again thanks for helping.
