Doug -

I'm a little confused by your post.

First, I'm assuming you're talking about the Beosound 9000, the unit that holds six cds. On the off chance that you're referring to the much earlier Beocenter 9000, please post.

Second, what purpose does the BEO unit serve? If I understand correctly, your music is ripped to your Mac, so I'm assuming you don't play cds with it.

Is the BEO unit in the loop solely because of the remote units?

It would seem to be that the simplest solution to (what I think is) your issue would be a D to A converter coming from your Mac and going to your NAD and speakers.

As for fixing the BEO, unless you're a B & O fan, I wouldn't think it worth the effort and expense.

So how did you end up with a 9000 in the first place?

The B & O unit is a Beosound 9000 it does hold six CD's. It really is only in the loop because I am using it as a pre amp and the remote speakers are wired to it. I also use it to control the volume of the Theil speakers
I bought the unit from a local dealer before B&O cut their dealer lose.

If the NAD is an integrated amp, I would guess its pre-amp stage is as good as the Beosound's. If it's not, I would think buying an inexpensive pre would put you further ahead.

I have some B & O gear myself, and it's great fun. But I have to believe the repairs on a Beosound (especially one that's been acting up) aren't worth the effort - when you're done, you still have an oddball machine whose main job, playing cds, is not what you're mostly interested in these days.

There are lots of remote solutions these days worth exploring - from Sonos to Squeezeboxen.
