Adcom GFA 555 stereo amp or Adcom GFA 565 monoblocks are incredible values. Even though they're older amps, I think they would do really well in your system. Search the Audiogon, you can find them consistently for less than 500
Doing some prelimary searching, there seems to be plenty of Adcom's on Audiogon, ebay etc. for reasonable.
Any major performance differences between...
555
555 II
5500
5503(realize its a 3 channle, specs look the same)
Also seen a few 5800 @ 250w/channel that may fit the budget
Rotel matches well with B&W so you should take a look at their amps.
Also, the NAD C355bee might be an option.
Ray,
whosgotsoul makes some good suggestions. I have auditioned Rotels' RA-1062, RC-1070 + RB-1070 driving the 683...sounded fantastic.
Also heard the NAD C352 and C372 pushing the 683...a different sound than the Rotel but still very listenable.
