I'll sound like a broken record, but the Jolida JD 1501A hybrid integrated amp for $675 with its 12AX7 tube driven preamp and MOSFET solid state power amp sections and 100 wpc provides a good sounding amp for a very reasonable price. It should do a nice job with Monitor Audio RS6s.

I have NAD C352 hooked up with MA RS6s. I am very pleased with the system. My friend who has listened in my system also listened to the MA RS6s with Jolida and said it was good too. In fact he liked it more than his Rotel+MA-GS20 combo. Try to listen to both the amps and make the decision.

Also give equal emphasis to speaker positioning and room acoustics...I just learnt that it can make or break you system.

Check out www.underwoodhifi.com for Jolida and other fine audio lines. Walter stocks all the Jolida products and even offers super upgrade-mods for all the Jolida amps through Chris Johnson at the Parts Connexxion. The lower power 1701 sounds slightly better than the 1501, but if you need the watts. It is also cheap and easy to play around with various 12ax7s and find a slight tweek in the sound to your liking. www.thetubestore.com

The Monitor Audio RS6's will probably make their way into my home soon & I'm deciding between the NAD C355bee & Arcam FMJ A22 for my amplification. I'd love to hear the Jolida, but I don't drive and there aren't any Jolida dealers in downtown Toronto.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but would the Arcam FMJ A22 (at 100 wpc) be a better buy than the NAD (80 wpc)? I play a lot of hip-hop, funk, soul, reggae & indie rock so I'd like my sound to have controlled, heavy bass with a bit of grunt to it!

The NAD C355bee is $700 new & the Arcam FMJ A22 is $700 used (4 years old, in mint condition).

Cheers!

I've auditioned the NAD 355BEE, Cambridge Audio 640v2 and the Rega Brio3. They are all good performers and i think you should do the same because each of these amps have a different presentation of music. The NAD is a rockers amp, in my opinion, with a more agressive, energetic and "in your face" presentation than the other two. The Cambridge is more laid back, polite and detailed, and the Brio3 is just in the middle with an emphatic presentation and a good sense of rhythm.

Hope this helped.
