Motorheadphones!

It seems like everyone and their grandma is releasing a headphone these days. If you’ve got a brand (or a band), you might as well add a line of headphones. One of the latest to join the trend is the English rock band, Motorhead, famous for their jukebox wonder, “Ace of Spades.” Lead singer, Lemmy, was on hand to introduce his Motorheadphones. (Hee hee.)

I couldn’t understand a word Lemmy said, but I think the idea behind the headphones is that they’ll do a better job than others at preserving the midrange, which, in theory, would make them more suitable for guitar-driven music.

From the press release, then:

“These new headphones are not like the weak-kneed, lily-livered, tin-pot, skinny sounding little pieces of garbage out on the market today,” said Lemmy from Motorhead. “We designed these headphones to deliver everything louder than anything else and with the sort of range, clarity and TRUE rock reproduction you’d expect from a band of warriors like us.”

That’s kinda awesome. But also kinda silly. And, in general, I don’t like the idea of marketing any audio component for just one particular type of music. I want my gear to work well with as many types as music as possible. But that’s just me.

Of course, Motorheadphones might actually sound really good. If they do indeed get the midrange right, chances are they will work well with many types of music.

Motorheadphones are compatible with smart phones and are equipped with a "Controlizer" microphone. Prices will range from $49.99 to $129.99.

I don’t share your greed / the only card I need / is the ace of spades, ace of spades!

Lemmy sold out??? What a douche. Seriously. Major letdown. So sad. So so so sad. What's next? I'm waiting for the Höveround endorsed by Lamey Oldmister ...

Obvious intent to be clever. Hopefully "Lamey Oldmeister" did not take you too long to come up with.

How do you figure? Because he has a product? What do you think Motorhead is? A product they sell records, Cd’s, and Music. Is he a sell out because he makes money?

So here is a guy that is tired of listen to headphones that sound like crap costing 300 to 500 dollars. He deices to do something about it and hires someone to build a set of headphones that aren’t just for house and dance. He get’s a pair he likes and decides hey, let’s not make them have to sell their first born to afford a pair of these. He prices then about half of what other people are selling their garbage for . My guess is you haven’t even listened to them. I for one think that to make a statement I should at least listen to them to make sure I have an educated opinion. If you would have done that you would have found that they are surprisingly good for the money better then most at twice the price and most of the reviews are pointing the same thing.
