Hi doody, I bought my Monitor Audio Silver RS6 speakers in March of this year (2006).
I am very happy with them.
I have them (center of speaker to center of speaker) 5'(feet) 9" (inches), and they are 23" (inches)
from the wall (grilles removed).
Now if you are wondering how I got these dimensions, I have them between a table that holds my computer and stereo system.

I've got mine about 10' apart, slightly toed in to face my couch across the room - about 9'. One is 6" from the wall, the other 6" from a bookcase. Imaging is fine. Great speakers.
