ML 60xti or MA 500 Silver 7G?

Martin Logan 60xti or Monitor Audio 500 Silver 7G?
Trying to help out a friend weighing the merits of these speakers. Amplification is a Denon 4700H that is 4 ohm capable. HT is a factor in speaker needs

Part of what he wants to know is if the 94 db sensitivity on the ML 60xti mitigates the 4 ohm rating while using a receiver with this level of power?

What are people’s thoughts about this and do readers have experience with these speakers? Thanks.

My opinion

I spent much time auditioning both. I came quite close to purchasing the ML 60Xti. In hindsight I’m glad I didn’t. But to answer your question the 94db with 4ohm will play fine with his receiver. It may run warmer depending how loud it’s being pushed. Personally for refinement and clarity I’d go for the Monitor Silvers.

I did hear a new line of Logan’s are coming out which is why all the current Motion series are almost 40% off now. So maybe wait and see what is revealed in February?

Thanks, Dorsia!

Thanks for your direct experience and thoughts regarding both of these speakers. I have heard the ML 60xti and the previous generation MA Silver 500 6G. To my ears (and a friend’s) , the Martin Logan not only bested the older MA Silver 500, it bested a Goldenear Triton 2+ It may be that the new MA Silver 500 7G wants to reassert pride of place for Monitor Audio. I’ll not only let my friend know, I will encourage him to see what the new generation of Martin Logans is like.
