Welcome, Syd!

With that disc, I think there are some pressings that don't sound right.

I have a copy that whenever I play it I start trying to figure out what just went wrong with the stereo.

On the first cut, So What, that same disc always makes me think there's a capacitor out on my amp and Big Mike has to remind me it's the disc.

I have another copy that's better.

Just in case, see if you can hook up with a different version and compare.

Thanks for the reply Buddha, I have replayed this several times and I can't make up my mind if the 'interference'is maybe some weird drumroll done with a 'brush'.

It spoils it for me though so I'll get a completely different recording and try that.

Syd - Welcome to the forums. If you're referring to the pulsing, hissing sound, just right of center on the cut, "Blue in Green", those are brushes on the skin of the drum.

Ah, yes!

That cut has been very useful when I take friends shopping for gear!

I wasn't even thinking of that as a possibility!

Thanks, Jeff.

Syd, take that disc to a Hi-Fi salon and see what differences you may hear from system to system. It's kind of fun!

Wow, I hadn't thought about that as a "noise," but when Jeff mentioned it, I could see that it might be.

As a former trumpet player, I actually lauged out loud the first time I noticed the spittle in his horn.
