I've been noticing hi-fi gear in a lot of movies and tv shows lately. There is some McIntosh gear in the movie I Love You Man and I swear I saw some Martin Logan speakers in old episode of Friends I watched not long ago.

Friends and One On One had Martin Logan speakers. I have heard that House has some decent gear on display but haven't seen it.

I'm not familiar with "The Unit" - where does it take place?

I ask because I was at a French cafe here in NYC (in the village) last friday night and they had a McIntosh integrated amp. Is this just an amazing coincidence?

McIntosh on the Unit?

I think they have a shot for that.

I've never seen McIntosh on the Unit, but I once had a contact rash to lipstick on Little Elvis.

The Unit is loosely based on 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D), commonly referred to as Delta Force. It takes place on "Fort Griffith" and whereever the Unit's mission is at the time. Great, great show.

off topic: speaking of the unit, can anyone remember the name of the pitcher they used to call the big unit?

Randy Johnson, who will be leading the SF Giants into the post season and winning game number 300 this year.

Hmm. Maybe French restaurants like McIntosh gear. It was called "Cafe Gitane"

Also, on NCIS, the chief of the unit seems to have a turntable and some sort of small amp lurking in his home....

Also, there was a famous pitcher called "The Big Train".

I think it was back in the 1890s...possibly Grover Cleveland Alexander.

As someone else said, it takes place all over the world. But this particular French cafe was supposedly in France, Paris, I think.

They could have filmed that scene in NYC. It looked real, rather than a set. But there were three items that looked like Macs.

P.S. It's a very good show, when it doesn't get too deep in the their personal lives. If I wanted personal melodrama I'd watch soaps. I've come close to quitting several shows because of this but when I didn't think I could take any more they eased up on it.

the "big train" was walter johnson, he played for the washington senators from 1907 to 1927. one of the only times they won a series was behind his pitching. back in that day, his numbers were staggering, he won 417 games and had over 3,500 strike outs. it was 55 years before anyone beat the strikeout record. they didn't believe in resting a pitcher's arm then.
