What happened to the most informative part of these reviews, the bench testing??? It kept the manufacturers and reviewers honest.

Cheers George

Maybe the measurements were not favorable in this case, because the Associated Equipment does not appear to the amplifier either. What happened to this information. What about the damping factor, or slew rate, or the output at 2ohms.

Did someone forget to post the measurements and assoc. equipment sidebars, or are the new owners of this magazine group changing what can be viewed online? Really hope it's forgetfulness, which has happened several times in the past.

It wasn't possible for Larry Greenhill, who now lives in California, to ship this amplifier to New York in time for me to measure it.

that makes sense. Wonder if LG will be updating his speakers to fit his new much smaller room... those Salon2's have gotta be overwhelming in his new space.

... their engineering HQ in CT to be used for your measurements?

....magazine of the new British owners is 'HiFi News and Record Review' and is likely to remain so.

The editor of that magazine (when I last read it some time ago) was, and maybe still is, Paul Miller, who is very keen on measurements, measures them himself, puts them at the end of most reviews, and owns an audio measurement company.

He is now the CEO of the new owning group.

I suggest the 'forgetfulness' of Stereophile only occurs when an item of equipment doesn't measure too well. And Miller will possibly allow that to continue. From the general 'tone' of reviews HFN&RR appears to be aimed at a more technically knowledgeable readership than Stereophile and he may not want the magazines to become too alike.

I am not trying to pick a fight. But, you cannot just imagine things in your head, then write them on a public website "suggesting" your imaginations are the truth.

Speculation without any evidence is worthless.

you just described Infowars' and Alex Jones' whole publishing strategy.

to say "I suggest". There is a big difference between that and a 'fact'.

Worthless? Maybe, but no more or less so than any other suggestion/opinion.

...this month's prize for Best Representation of Common Sense on a Public Website. Well done, sir!

That's great JA, as it's the bench testing and measured specs and what they inform that set Stereophile apart.

Cheers George
