I would suspect it will drive them just fine, but it will still sound like a Krell!!!
Some folks love em. I auditioned one on four seperate occasions, cause, well, I wanted to own a Krell! But nothing I heard could pry money from my wallet. I suggest you trust your own ears and listen for yourself.

Well I am a Krell guy, its because I already own the Krell with a pair of Vienna Concert Grand, and i love the combination and the sound they produce together, so I started thinking about going for a pair of Mahler, but haven't had the chance to listen to a set of Mahler with the Krell Kav400xi yet...

LOL. That thought occured to me right after I posted! I didn't mention I also auditioned the larger Krell seperates which I would have bought in a heartbeat had they been within my budget at the time. You may want to consider that path as well.
I currently play on Vienna BCG, Krell Kav400xi and Audia Flight CD One... Without doubt a very good system in my ears, but I would like to go a bit further you know
I have the KAV xi400 and while my speakers not especially hard to drive, they do require some real power. I can safely say the Krell never breaks a sweat, in the slightest. In fact ALL Krells seem to have this quality, among other great ones such as being easy on the ears, articulate and just very musical. For my money, the most tube-like of SS gear.

Yeah I agree it really got some power, I was just wondering if it would be sensible to pair it with Mahler...

I'd love to hear your existing system.
