That's our hobby now :)

BTW I would take a serious look at the Sherwood line. You can see my reviews of them http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/ . About 3 years ago they got in a new design plan that has been building shockingly great sounding products. I use several tuned 4105's and have recommended them all over the world to serious listeners. Here's a hint: their more low mass light weight units (less expensive too) are the best performers.

Dali's are pretty hip! And I'm a speaker designer. There's a couple of guys here who are thumbs up on their products.

Oh and on the receivers, the playing field has evened itself out on this one. Receivers are very much in competition with any high end amps now. Look inside of some of the newer models and they look just like high end audio designs in their prime. There really is no more receiver to I-amp to Pre-amp to mono any more. The newer design receivers have much better design and actually out perform many component systems now because of using fewer transformers. The industry is slow on this one, but going simple today is far better than going complicated. I still have both separates and receivers and my receivers smoke the separates.

have fun!

Such things just don't happen in my country: when going to a dealer I expect him to be polite, offer me a coffee and spend enough time with me to make a sale. And then, I expect him or one of his assistants to help with installation, cabling (maybe my old cables are not the best choice) and all the nitty-gritty of making the system run at its best. And if he doesn't provide all these services he will be broke in less than a couple of months, since I can buy the same stuff cheaper from any country of the EU. Now what makes him deserve the 40-60% markup?

Hi Michael. thx for your suggestion on Sherwood. I checked their website and it seems they do have a distributor in Italy. i'll give them a call and see their prices.
i'm also thinking of just order an Emotiva 8100 Fusion receiver at this point but from 349 $ when they add delivery to Italy and custom fees it goes up to about 650 € !! that's more than double the original price!
What's the opinion on this board about the Emotiva 8100 ? Is it better in stereo than say Marantz SR5008/9 or 6008/9 series?
I love the Dalis...great looking...great sound and bloody amazing value!

Hi Nello

Let me share something that might be of help, and cost less. In the last years there has been a common design that is extremely musical, if not stock with just the slightest of tweaking anyone can do.

Look at the inside down view of the 8100, now look at the down view of the Sherwood 4105. See how the 8100 has divided boards with the transformer in the middle? The off to the side transformers design with the one board are better performers. Less electromagnetic interference for one. Look at what I do to these receivers on TuneLand. If you look at the amps all the way back through history that have the transformers off to the side or outboard (hardwired not umbilical plugs), you get a more natural sound. I don't even think the manufactures are doing this for sound, but for cost, but they do indeed sound better.

I've compared the two design types in several product lines and for many years with the same results. Right at this time several of the mass production companies are doing this design and what you want to look for is that simple, off to the side with a main board like the little Sherwood rx 4105 or Yamaha s201. These are super clean designs.
