Yeah- I have it. It's not bad actually as it helps define some terms and some things to look for when getting started. I've been into audio for a long time and he help clarify a few technical concepts I was never all that clear on, so it's a good reference at all levels. Plus, it's fairly recent, so nothing's going to be all that outdated.
Of course, it STILL won't make too much sense until you actually go get your feet (ears?) wet and listen to some gear for yourself, but I'd say it's worth the money and time. He does a good job at a number of places of explaining how to get good sound at different price points, and what you may (potentially) getting as you go up from there. If you armed yourself with that book, and the latest Stereophile Rec. Components issue, you'd have at least a decent road map.
But again, it's no substitute for the actual landscape. And of course once your into it a bit, you can always ask more specific questions here and will likely get some helpful answers. Good luck!
Thanks - yeah, I have "gotten my feet wet" already and have my first true hi-fi system. I was interested in reading it as you say to learn more about some of the details - sometimes I read posts here or articles in mags and find a few concepts I want to understand better - just my nature.
Thanks for the info.
