I stream mp3s from a hard disk in the house to a "mid-fi" in the bedroom, and to the "big rig." I find it invaluable. It provides an in-home radio station of music I love, without interruption. I just wish I could get better sound quality out of it!
Conceptually sounds like a great idea. But I guess I'm a Luddite. I liked the manual feel associated with vinyl playback and delayed my transition to CDs accordingly. To me a music server means even less manual and emotional involvement with my music.
