I would put down it is a parody before the real Carl sues you for slander
WE are dealing with a public figure here I do not think he can do anything. He can complain, and depending on who is listening maybe they will see it his way and maybe they will not. He has likewise ridiculed other public figures on this server and their names are well know as well. Carl has sought all the public attention , and made all the remarks, and will continue to do so, all I am going to do is MARK THE SPOT, he has even been published in Stereophile, and in the blogs several times once in '06 for being a corruptive force in the forums.
Name and all published here. Carl was the first poster to see it and gave the posts 10 stars each. That took an effort to do and he could have easily said to remove his name. He is seeking the publics' attention.

If Stereophile wants to take it down they can, but I'm right on the money. He is seeking fame and at the same time is disparaging products and readers.
The manufacturers and typical reader do not know where to look and see who DUP is, but he is a public figure, at least on this server, and is seeking the attention of every person here. We'll just be letting them know who he is and at what post he is on for insults and ridiculous posts.
The goal is to get Carl to join the general population on this Stereophile system so we can enjoy a discussion about everything Stereophile. He who wants to challenge the integrity and substance of hi-end hi-fi, Stereophile and every poster, shall have his own integrity challenged. We want Carl to cease and desist with OT(off topic), rude and unnecessary remarks in the middle of conversations that others are having so we can enjoy a more cordial atmosphere.
If forced to choose between DUP/Carl or showflash staying on this forum I would choose DUP to stay every time.

I disagree. We want to be able to talk about what is Stereophile. Stereophile may be about many different things and Carl should not be a constraint on topics.
Do we have to get approval from Carl before we discuss a particular concept he may not like? If I want to discuss placing high grade wires in my system Carl is going to bother me and other forum members by interrupting the discussion. I don't need that. I need information from other Stereophile forum members. If I want to spend more than Carl did on CD player Carl has something negative to say. If you spend one more dime than Carl has on any system component he gets pissed off! What if I want to buy a $50,000 turntable and I need information regarding it? What is Carl doing here. The problem isn't showflash. It's Carl.
I'll tell you what Showflash...I'll post the remarks regarding EVIDENCE on Carl and you just post regarding whatever.
I'll be more than happy to do my part, I wish everyone would too! If it is about censorship then it is Carl doing the censoring! He will not let people discuss topics they feel they need to discuss. If I cannot say what I want about a particular person or component in the industry then who is the censor Carl or Showflash! Carl has something negative to say about nearly ever angle of the industry.

I added the parody disclaimer because I listen to fellow forum members unlike other forum members. I feel he is a public character. The government does not have to want to attack you the right is given and taken away based on how well the public knows you. Carl has fewer rights than if you gave your name. You see this often in cases against magazines like the Mirror.
I'm not here to hassle anyone...just getting them to wake up and smell the coffee. High end audio is more than being able to afford the gear. You have to have a desire to learn about it a little bit...be inquisitive. Want to know what a high end EXPENSIVE piece of gear is all about. Don't dump on it because it is expensive as Carl does. If you are turned off at the price of high end gear who isn't but to make your life bashing gear that anyone in their right mind wouldn't say no to if they had the money or it was given to them is ridiculous.

There is nothing wrong with DUP's gear. Just your ears. BTW I was an audiofool enough to buy Watt/Puppys and Jeff Rowland but I STILL think Van Alstine makes great amps.............so there :-)

In not one of my posts did I say to kick Carl off the forum.
I don't think there is anything wrong with his gear...for the most part I never directly stated that his gear sucked. Just that there are different ways to manufacture gear.
When asked what I would do if I had $45,000 I said to buy the Watt/Puppys. No problem there. I haven't got $45,000 kicking around. Right now I HAVE $15,000 but wouldn't buy the Legacy speakers because of Carl. I'll probably manufacture a set of speakers because I have to get more involved with my art.
Carl is the one promoting censorship by not letting others speak their mind freely without creating a great deal of consternation as stated elsewhere in this thread. If Carl would simply let well enough alone we wouldn't be having this conversation at all would we? I think people read Stereophile for a number of reasons and Carl has a very limited view of the high end. Carl has to open his mind up a little and let others speak without interruption on this privately owned and operated forum. Carl does not own it but is trying to control it and everything that goes on here. For some reason Carl may think he owns something here? Not sure why.
Lets look at it this in one of three ways, you pick whichever scenario you like to help you understand where a few dozen of us are coming from. There have been many who have left after reading here for just a bit and even after they registered and were part of the Stereophile crowd already....whatever.
If you go to church you may become a church elder and looked up and become an employee of the church but if you are a patron you are never to be more than that. Showing up here and bashing other high end editors day in and day out is not going to get you to be an elder here. Do you understand me? I don't think Carl has ever been paid for services by Stereophile has he? Is or was Carl ever an employee of Stereophile? No he just attends church here like everyone else...so what is the problem with Carl? With Carls' thinking attending church means you own it hook line and sinker and can tell the priest what he can do with his church. If I were in the pew next to him I'd find a way to quiet him up.
Here is another way to think of it. If you happen to have bad bones and break you arm one day and you leg several months later does this give you the right to tell the doctor or hospital administration how to run the hospital? NO.
And finally. You walk into a bar and there is a guy behind the counter and fiver patrons on the chairs drinking a beer. You sit down order a beer and start calling the bartender a bum for the conversation he is having? How long do you think you are going to be in the bar without a punch getting thrown at you?
Here is a 5 minute rundown of Carl's activities in the forum and what he is doing is not conducive to Stereophile' management of the forms, it is Carl creating discontent. There are at least a dozen other forums for Carl to go and hang out at. Nobody is telling Carl he cannot go to those other forums or even go so far as to contact manufacturers in private about products he does not like. This ONLY took me 5 minutes to compile. Anywhere you turn he is bashing something or somebody. We are not here to listen to him and turning him off while a good idea is NOT an antidote, it simply does not work due to the number of people he is insulting.

Stereophile is a professional organization and they do not want to be dragged into arguing with Carl. It is a matter of record that they have politely corrected him and they don't want to ban him. Yet. I didn't ask him to be banned either, just to grow up. He acts like a moron and if the shoe fits....
I tried blocking Carl's posts but it doesn't work...the mechanism for blocking posts did not work for whatever reason so maybe I'll go back to that and try it again. But I don't blame Abysmal for posting Carl's name every time Carl is rude...they are after all Carl's statements and we all know who Carl is.

I will state that using the username DUP as in the literal word DUPE could be a Stereophile thing. I mean Stereophile could be paying a user to act like an ASS so that Stereophile could indirectly bash stupid buyers. But the gear that Carl uses also get a negative connotation.

He is not "getting to me" but Frank Van Alstine of Audio of Van Alstine and Bill Dudleston of Legacy couldn't buy this type of negative publicity from a user of their systems. Every other post he vilifies one of us and then turns around and advertises the systems and yet he knows nearly nothing about the systems. So I don't get it. No matter what I've tried I can't turn him off.
A lot of people read these threads globally. It does not matter what I say....I cannot make him stop but someone may.
OK, Showflash, having been away from the forum for a couple of days, I've just read this thread from start to finish - well almost. I say almost because I automatically ignore DUP's posts and those of one of the other contributors to the thread. It appears you've devoted a lot of time to bashing that fellow you say is interrupting discourse which you would like to conduct on the forum. Why not, now, devote a little time to starting a new thread focussed on that which you want to be able to discuss. Maybe some of us will find that more entertaining than this endless diatribe telling us what we already know all too well.
