I'm in England should of thought about contacting soundlab my self! Have you any idea what these speaker are worth working? They were a gift from a friend!
Your most accurate guideline (since it is based on actual transactions) would be the Online Blue Book on AudiogoN. Some kind person here with a subscription might look the prices up and tell you. A quick google throws up pairs for sale in the $4-5k range (they listed for about $12k wayback when).
However none of this will probably help you much in the UK anyway. If you wanted to sell the problem would be finding a buyer for such large speakers, especially in the UK where the rooms are smaller and the wives meaner . Their size and weight would also make them expensive to ship abroad so an international sale, sight unseen, is unlikely unless you price them at a steep discount to market.
You could always call Alan at Choice Hi-fi and ask what he would give you for them. Double that and add your shoe size to get some idea of what they are worth. He is currently listing a pair of the bigger A-1s, reportedly six months old, for

He said they were worh a bit!He had had them for a while they used to work and intended on getting them working again but just bought some new speakers in the end they,ve been in my front room for 6mths keep meaning to sort them but this is as far as I've got hes in to real high end stuff hes got his own listening room etc! If i get my own way and keep them could you recormend an amplifier to run them? I wont be able to spend much more than

I've got to convince the other half first! I've emailed sound lab ref getting the parts to repair them I'll wait to see there responce and go from there thanks again
