I picked up a pair of their monblocks at a record sale over the weekend. I heard them there but have not tried them at home (they were too good a deal to pass up but I have no need for them at the moment). The build quality is very good, far beyond my more expensive Onkyo receiver in my video system. I have a similiar thread else where asking for info from folk who might know the brand. To me they seem much better built than their price would lead one to expect.
I've heard the Emotiva RSP-1 preamp with the older RPA-1 (200 wpc @ 8 Ohms, 350 wpc @ 4 Ohms) power amp. The XPA-2 250 wpc @ 8 Ohms power amp is supposed to be much more robust than the RPA-1 as revealed by its 500 wpc @ 4 Ohms rating. It sounded to me like the Emotiva stuff is an incredible value. Auditions are hard to come by though as they are a direct marketer.
Hi
This is interesting, looks well made.
Anyone got more experience ?
Alan
I have never seen an amp as flexible as these before. Perhas someone on the staff might be interested enough to look at the product.
I just finished reading several high end audio books on choosing and amp and preamp and of course they said that you should listen to the products before purchasing. Since that is pretty much impossible I was wondering if some knowledgeable person here could review the "specs" on these products and give me your input. I find it hard to believe that these products could compete against amps and preamps costing thousands of dollars but then again the markup it pretty high for some retailers.
Although they may be hard to audition, they do have a 30-day "no questions ask" return/refund policy. You do have to pay return shipping, but if you have it narrowed down to a few products, it is probably worthwhile.
And a five year transferrable warranty. That's pretty impressive, and helps with the resale value - maybe I'll check these guys out.
The Affordable Audio 'zine reviewed a couple of their models a few months back-- seemed to like them. (www.affordableaudio.org)
Now here is a memorable line from one of the reviews "And you
