My power amp's specifications goes like this :
Overal gain & sensitivity : 26db or 32db;141 mv or 71 mv ( user selectable)
Input impedance : 36k or 600 ohms (user selectable)
I am think of replacing the pre that goes with the above power amp. What specifications should i be looking for to be a good match? ie,what should be the pre's optimal output impedance etc etc ? Is there a possibility of a missmatch such as the pre not having enough output level to drive the power amp to full power or perhaps too much output level so that it might overload the power amp ?

It's hard to answer with assurance without knowing the speakers, room and preferred listening levels but the gain and sensitivity seem reasonable to generous. The only concern is that the output impedance of a singele-ended preamp be below 3500 ohms. That should not be a problem but there are some tube preamps with rather high output impedances.

Thanks Kal
After careful thinking and from past experience (screwd the sound just because i upgraded a component without any reason)i will stick to the pre-amp i am currently using.
Thanks anyway
p.s. There should be a word for this in a dictionary.
Upgeadabilitis commonobilities, just like a dessease lol
