GR-Research?

Having gotten reinterested in Audio after some years away I'm curious what the audiophile community's opinions are of GR-Research and their products? I've been watching some of their videos on YouTube and while they're interesting it seems that Danny has yet to find a speaker that doesn't need a lot of help. His big thing seems to be the use of cheap parts inside speakers that you don't see, like the crossover, bracing etc. Also, any other good YouTube channels to recommend?

Since one of his businesses is selling replacement parts, that is not surprising.

Speakers

Hi Ariel,

Have you tried Audio Mart USA? They seem to have a pretty good assortment of good speakers.

Just a thought.

No, it's not that.....

I'm looking for anything at the moment, it's just academic interest and whether the videos I'm watching are credible.

I understand Ariel. Glad you are checking things out. Everyone seems to have their own "theories", some better, some worse. For the public, this applies with all the components in an audio system.

Cheers

No other business promotes a product or service they provide, do they? There would be no speakers to examine if owners did not send them in.

Agreed. He is not unique.

With many Audio related YouTube videos it is difficult separating wheat from the chaff. Trying for yourself with an open mind is best when feasible. Regarding GR Research, it is a company with substantial design experience. Quality of crossover components, connectors, and wire is promoted. Others claim quality of those items make little to no difference. Keep an open mind, try for yourself.

Contrary to strongly promoted opinions, there is no black and white, right or wrong that applies to everyone involved in the Audio Hobby. Find what works for you and enjoy. Don't buy into any dogma that claims to hold the answer to everything for everyone.
