Loved the Leonard Cohen piece..
Cohen has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and many of my newer favorites were inspired by him...(Lambchop, Nick Cave, Tindersticks, etc)
hats off to ya, Art.

Don't miss him on his current tour. I've never spent that much on concert tickets before, and hopefully won't again, but it was one of the best shows I've ever seen-- so good that I think I'll pass on his second trip through my area (one I saw was at the Academy of Music-- he's booked the 17000 seat Spectrum for round two) because I doubt that the sound in that old arena could match the performance. Which is top notch.
Right, I want to catch him this year (he's playing MSG on 10/23) but don't know if I can do it. Here's a nice complementary reading to AD on Cohen, Sasha Frere-Jones of New Yorker on Cohen, who mentions the double CD/DVD "Live in London" as one of his best live albums:

And Robert Christgau's excellent take on Cohen's literariness (and another strong endorsement for "Live in London"):

I loved this article as well - not the biggest fan of the music but, investigating thanks to the article. Great work Art!
