Paul Butterfield was the fashionable young (albeit white) blues guy many years ago, but didn't have the voice for it. Eric Burdon did, Mick Jagger did to an extent, and Paul Rodgers really did, but they went other directions. This young man has a blues voice, in the sense of Bobby Bland or Billy Boy Arnold, and his willingness to experiment should give him a leg up on those latter two singers.

So with a bunch of fans who've heard him live and are attracted to his style and performances, maybe he can sell enough to make a good living. But I don't hear anything distinctive enough to add another half-dozen tunes by a new (to me) artist to my digital collection.
