I suggest you might want to look at the kef.com website; click on 'custom installation' and you will find a line of speakers designed specifically for wall and ceiling mounting. As for powering them...if you have two sets of speaker outputs from your receiver...I guess you have terminals to connect them to.
Congrats on the system.
Could I ask why are you going the in-ceiling route in the den?
For $1000 you could get a pair of killer speakers and enjoy a great sound and the Rotel will be all the driver you need.
I had to go the in-ceiling route with B&W in my kitchen/dining space and it's ok but I would give anything to have a pair of real speakers.
If you are committed to in-ceiling the B&W option is good but the alternative of boxes is soooo much better!
Thanks for the input, I should be able to demo both the B&W and KEF in the area, although I'm sure it'll be hard to predict what the sound will be like. Yea, the in-ceiling thing is not my choice. My wife is a minimalist and wants nothing on the floors in that room, I'm still lobbying. I don't have wiring yet, but its a short jump from the media room.
After listening to many options, I went with 4 KEF 160 2QR and installed them in my living room. I certainly see now the difference between the floor/shelfs and the in-ceiling options. Overall though I am pretty satisfied with the sound, and for just under $1000 I wonder if I could have even purchased 4 floor or shelf speakers with significantly better sound. I hope to purchase a Rotel RMB-1066 amp very soon; any reviews on this amp? Thanks for the input.
