Where have you gone? I enjoy the ramblings on anything audio that tickles the writers fantsy.

Hi Jim, the free eNewsletters are temporarily suspended, due to the fact that they were costing more to produce than they brought back in revenue. The content that would have appeared will now appear either on the website or in the paper magazine.

Perhaps I'm just dull witted, John, but given that the newsletters were free, what were the initial expectations regarding what they might "bring back in revenue"?

Reminds me of that old saying...

They lost money on each one, but they were hoping to make it up in volume.

We certainly spent money on producing each one, but our business plan was that, just as with the print magazine, the advertising revenue would cover that cost. Didn't work out, so I am taking the investment we would have made in eNewsletter content and applying it to the magazine and website instead.

I fully understand. Those darn "bean counters" can take all the fun out of everything. LOL

What about turning it into a free-to-you offering to manufacturer engineering types like Ed Meitner, Tony Faulkner or Tom Jung as an example, and give them 1,000 word to discuss their thoughts on technology, design, or any ideas that tickle their fancy.

For me, I have watched many times that Free B&W DVD that came with your magazine a while back that had me wanting more dialog from Peter Cobin? the mixing engineer at Abbey Road Studios on how he does what he does.

Maybe this would work if the "words" didn't cost money, accept for the web space. It might be fun to see who might participate. Just a thought.

Maybe it could be done in a seperate "Manufacturing Engineering Showcase" on the formum that was a "read only" entry.

Did you buy B&W speakers as a result of receiving that "Free" DVD?

Regards,
Bob
