Do you have any hopes that the new Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats will use their high-resolution audio capability?

While SACD and DVD-A seem pretty much format roadkill, do you have any hopes that the new Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats will use their high-resolution audio capability?

These people have not even marketed DVD Audio and SACD with any degree of business acumen. What makes us think that they could even accomplish this?

Of course! If you're going to have HD video, why skimp on the audio?

I heard that The 5th Element when released on Blu-ray will be 192khz/24bit for all 7 channels. Now i wanna hear that!

I am 55 years old and I am too old to start replacing my music again! The music industry said the CD was the ultimate in sound and that was a baldfaced lie! The reason SCAD and DVD-A are dead is because of coporate greed, no one wanted to share the pie, they wanted it all to themselves. I'm glad that SCAD and DVD-A are dead, serves them right. Same thing is going to happen with Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Besides with all the work going to China, who do the electronic manufacturers think is going to be able to afford to buy all this new crap anyway?

I hope at least one of these new technologies embraces high-end audio and produces high-resolution audio discs. I would like to see a format that makes me want to have a multichannel audio system.

You mean there are other reasons to buy them?

If the promise of higher resolution music on SACD and DVD-A didn't make the Walmart crowd rush out to buy either one, what makes anyone think Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will work any better? The vast majority of people listen to music as background noise, and good ol' Red Book CD is more than sufficient. The "high-end" people who "listen" are too small a niche market.

Since my audio is organized and stored on a computer, I doubt that I will be able to make much use of DRM protected multichannel audio.

I love the idea but I still stick to vinyl. Another war format?

I hate this problem of having to buy my music collection in different (new) formats every few years. But I love SACD and DVD-audio and their attributes of multichannel capability and better quality recordings (encoding).

Intresting is are birds sing in stereo or multi chanel ??!?

Unfortunately, there is very little hope to see it. Huge investments are made for mass market, the main goals are increasing disks capacity storage and cinema industry purposes.
