hello bummp bummp bummp
It is not clear how you are connecting the player to the system and to what.
If you are and intend to continue using only HDMI, it is likely there will be no difference nor need to change.
If you are or intend to use the analog outputs of the player to connect to an analog path through the rest of the system, the 205 will likely give you better audio playback because of its superior DACs and supporting circuitry.
...has dual ESS ES9038PRO Sabre Pro DACs. So unless budget is a factor, it's a no brainer between those 3.
Did you read what I wrote?
yes i did
can you or anyone else tell me would the cyrus cdi with psx-r external power supply or sim audio 260d or the naim cd5si
do these have supeior dacs to the oppo 205
if so would they give me much better overall sound quality than th oppo 205 with the setup i have thanks
Never mind.
The Cyrus, Simaudio or Naim CD players will most likely sound better than the Oppo 205 as these standalone CD players would have better audio circuitry and power supply that aren't shared by video circuitry as is the case with the Oppo 205. The Oppo is a bluray player and its video circuitry and components would have interfered and impose electrical interference with its analog audio circuitry as everything is cramped in a single unit thus have negative impacts on sound quality of your cd or music playbacks if you plan to use the Oppo's analog audio outputs eventhough Oppo tried to make an effort to pay attention and optimize its analog audio stage with its 205 player but it still won't compare to good quality standalone dedicated CD players sonically. The DAC chips don't really matter much. What matters is the implementation and configuration of it, the digital filters, power supply, analog out buffer, analog audio output stage etc. A $1k standalone DAC or CD players will probably have the same DAC chip sets as those that cost $10k and up.
The Oppo is a universal Blu-ray Disc player and plays every single media discs you throw at it and it's like a Swiss Army knife, it is a spectacular bluray player but if you want to get a better sound quality of your cd playbacks I would get either the Cyrus or the Simaudio or the Naim CD players that you mentioned above.
However, the Cyrus, Naim, Simaudio CD players will only play cd whereas the Oppo will play CD, SACD, DVD-Audio (high resolution audio disc) as well bluray audio discs, bluray video discs, uhd 4K bluray discs, DVD-video discs.
But if you plan to use the analog audio output of the players the Oppo 205 will sound better than the Oppo 203 or the Marantz UD2007 or the Sony 4K bluray players.
Hope this helps.
hi
caphill thank you for you information if you as to choose out of the
naim with power supply
cyrus
or sim audio what would you choose out of the 3 with the setup i have above
or can you recommend one that wuld be even superior to the three up above for round about the same price
also can you or anybody else
think of anything else that i can add to this setup
that would greatly enhance its performane
what could i add
or swap out thanks
Either the Naim, the Simaudio or the Cyrus would be a good choice. I would suggest you give them a listen preferrably in your own setup and only you can make the decision.
I've never compared them side by side. You can connect the CD player to your Musical Fidelity M3i integrated amp. But you would want to still consider the new Oppo 205 and try to compare the Oppo 205 against those other three CD players. I wouldn't discard the Oppo 205 as it is a stellar machine. I've never heard the Oppo 205 for cd playbacks using its stereo analog output so I can't comment.
hi all i have decided to
my question is
in addition to my setup above
i want to add a power amp to the centre speaker to enhance it greatly
i will be using my marantz as main amp
then i will use the music fidelity m3i and crown 102
for the high and low frequncies then to the marantz
to my dali speakers
will connect my blue node2 to the amplifier
my question is i have enhanced my two front speakers but i want to enhance my centre speakers as
well the dali zenor vokal centre
what do you recommend as a power amplifier for the centre
same as youve got
or something else you would recommend
i am using dali instead of the kefs you use to take into consideration
also i want to enhance the audio quality of the sony ux800 4k player
by using a arcam ir dac to enhance the 2 channel music of the sony ux800
can all this all be wired up to the marantz amp
if so how would i wire it all up thanks
also is there any way i can add a turnable to this setup
if so what would you recommend
and how do you wire it up thanks
IMO the OPPO 205 is far superior to the others you mentioned for audio playback of CD or SACD.
I have one, and I also have the new Marantz SA-10, which is amazingly good (should be for $7000). It actually offers essentially perfect repoduction, right up there with top-quality Turntables/cartridges IMO.
I have never heard such flawless sound from CDs.
The OPPO 205, however, is very very good; much better than the 203 or the 105 or 95. The 205 uses a new chipset which makes its performance quite different compared to the older models, which were all fairly good but not as good.
Unless you can contemplate spending the money for the SA-10, I don't think there is anything for under $4000 that is as good. At $1300, it blows away anything for similar prices.
Or you can get the Oppo 205 modded by Modwright with full mods. Heard from lot of people on different forums that it sounded extraordinary and compares to players that cost $10k and up.
You should consider. I would contact Modwrights.
