Can't you find a deal on Diapason Micras there in Italy? They blow away any Paradigm.
Why don't you buy them on Audiogon This way, they'll come in as used equipment and won't be taxed. You can also ask the seller to send them marked "Warranty repair"
Customs in italy are bastard, they can even charge used stuff, and you can't do much about it. But well, if i can ask to mark the stuff as warranty repair then i'll consider that shop, thank you!
Which model exactly do i have to consider in place of a Mini Monitor?
But actually, if i can't find them on ebay, i guess it will be tough to find them on any local shop..
How are the Audiengine 5 speakers compared to the Mini Monitors? They're available for a good deal here.
Other advices would be welcome.
Wharfedale makes several inexpensive bookshelf speakers that perform way above their price point. Even an old pair of Diamond 7.2's off eBay shouldn't go for more than $50-$80.
