I posted a long while ago how much I liked the Centrance DACPort with my AKG 701 headphones.
After reading the follow up review in the latest Stereophile issue, I went to Radioshack and picked up a 1/4" headphone jack to RCA adapter (the gold plated one that is a pure adapter (no audio wire).
The DACPort has a volume control, so I'm going straight into my amplifier from the adapter, as mentioned in the follwup.
I really wasn't expecting much, but wow am I surprised by how good it is. I'm listening to 24/96 version of "The Raven" and it sounds glorious. I have had some DAC/preamp combinations in the past that would be put to shame.
If you have a Centrance, pick up an adapter and have some fun.
