These are pretty new. My Cambridge Audio dealer has not seen them yet, but says they are on the way.

The preamp does have a sub preout.

Thanks for confirmation this unit has a sub out... My local dealer probably won't be getting any of these in--this shop is more geared towards HT installs, it seems, and carry little stock. Plus they don't seem interested in talking to anyone not spending $20K+. Looks like I'd have to buy this pre & amp online if I decide to go this route.

Just curious whether anyone here has this pre (&/or the matching 840W power amp). I can't find out much about these models online--everything I've found so far is basically the same thing--a quote of the manufacturer's blurb. I own a 540R v2 receiver, & want to change to separates (w/in a budget) over the next 6 months or so. I do really like Cambridge products.

If you have exposure to the 840E pre especially, does it have a subwoofer out? I've seen one small pic of the back panel, and I THINK it does have a sub out... I'd just like some general impressions if possible as well...

I have had the Cambridge Audio 840-E preamplifier for the past year or so.

It is simply SUPERB. The most under-rated pre-amp in the history of Hi-Fi; impressively resolving &transparent (from 10-500-KHz/top-to-bottom), superior LF resolution/definition, articulation, dynamic, quiet and remarkably 'musical'.

It's a wonderful sounding and flexible, full-featured design.
