What speaker are you going to be using it with and how big is the room?

Those questions asked the sound of that unit is absolutely fantastic. It's one of my favorite Bryston products. Which is saying something because I think very highly of the company. In fact I posted the following earlier on another thread of the forum:

. . .and of course the Byrston's are near bullet proof! That's why they offer a 20 year warranty (ya I meant to type 20 years.) I ran the repair department at a high end store for a number of years and even when they do charge for repairs on the super old stuff (think 30+ years) the repairs are incredibly reasonable and fast. Many under $200. Wonderful company, I can't say enough good about them.

Thanks for the response!

Room is about 11x15 with 8.5 ft ceilings that peak at 11 ft in the middle of the room. Speakers I'll be pairing it with are Tetra Manhattan 120U bookshelves.

I prefer detail and dynamics in my gear - nothing dry or dull. the Tetras are very, very transparent and detailed speakers.

I bought the 3B-SST2 power amp a couple of months ago, and I have never heard anything better.

I use it to drive my Vandersteen 3A speakers both with or without my subwoofers**, and it is great, even though they are not terribly efficient.

**(I have two sets of output cables from my preamp; one set is just direct, and when I connect those to the amp the subwoofers have to be turned off...the other set has an inline filter to roll off the signal below 80HZ to the power amp and main speakers so the Vandersteen subs can be turned on)

I had some questions about setting it up and some technical questions also, and Chris Russell at Bryston was very very accommodating and helpful. I can't recommend Bryston too highly.

I guess the question with the B-60 would be...is it enough power for your speakers. It probably is, assuming the efficiency rating on your speakers is at least 85db/watt. If they are below that, maybe the B-100 would be needed.

(For speakers that are rated around 85db/watt, 10 watts of power will give a 95db spl, and 60 watts will give around 100db. I think that is quite adequate for most listeners.)
