In order to listen to true mono (which we know is short for "monophonic", meaning "one sound"), you should have only one speaker hooked up. One source of sound, as the definition says. What Mr. Halberstadt is hearing in this case is "two-channel monophonic", and that's not the same thing. It spreads the sound around the room much more widely. Please unhook one La Scala and let us know how it sounds!
