Bluetooth 5.0: Why are receiver/transmitter combos cheaper than receivers only?

In shopping on Amazon for a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver, I got the impression that the combo transmitter/receivers are less expensive than receivers alone with what appear to be the same specs.

While the receivers-only were upwards beyond $60-$100 or more, the combo units seemed to be in the $30 to $50 range.

I thought that might be the case due to volume sales of the combo units compared to fewer sales of the receive-only units causing the per unit price of the combos to be much less.

Is that your experience, or am I missing a critical spec in the receive-only units?

Is it worth it get the transmit/receive unit even if I only need the receive function for the forseeable future?
