You know, bits are bits with a few caveats:
1. The transport protocols contain:
a) error correction
b) clocking
2. Read mechanism contains error correction
3. Data stays in digital domain
Once those conditions are met, bits are bits. If that weren't true, you wouldn't have reliable data communication such as the Internet, copying files etc.
Errors can occur if the transport protocol is less than ideal and during the digital to analog conversion.
I was sure the first reply would be a quote from Kevin Costner's monologue from 'Field of Dreams,' so thanks for letting me off the hook, amigo!
Here we go again...
I am with you on both of these.
I enjoy your non-moving bits concept. Moving bits are indeed the pesky ones.
To be an aphorism the thought/quote must be original.
To quote a line from a movie would not qualify.
Truth be told I had no idea what a aphorism was.
Had to look it up.
Even worse, now that I know what one is, I'm not clever enough to come up with one.
Buddha,
The one that stuck in my mind from the early '80s is "Perfect Sound Forever", regarding the CD.
