Hello!

I ended up purchased GoldenEar Triton Three+ Floorstanding speakers (http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0616/GoldenEar_Technology_Triton_Three_Plus_Floorstanding_Speaker_Review.htm). The sole purpose is to listen to music, particularly via Bluetooth and compressed formats. The receiver choice that someone picked out when I looked at the Magnepan 1.7i was Yamaha AVR RX-V481 (http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx/rx-v481_u/) to drive the 4 ohms on the Magnepan 1.7i. It doesn't seem like Triton Three+ requires that much. But since I know next to nothing about the AVR/Amp - **will getting a standalone amp significantly increase the sound quality compared to this AVR**? I am playing with a budget game, and truth be told, if I could get a similar sound from $400 AVR compared to $800+ amp, I'd rather go with the cheaper option.

Thank you!

considering the source material you listen to it won't make any difference whether it's an AVR or separates. I'd go with a Denon AVR, and don't pay more than maybe 600.00. Bluetooth and MP3 and wifi won't "sound better" with expensive separates. They'll just sound the same.

Hello bierfeldt. Just wanted to let you know that I decided to purchase Denon AVR-X3300W (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9x5uhXRcaBl/p_033AVX3300/Denon-AVR-X3300W-IN-Command.html). I managed to get it for $539, which makes my wallet really happy. It has minimum impedance listed as 4 ohms also. While it does not support things like aptX codec or asynchronous USB B, I think it be sufficient for now for listening to mp3 and FLAC via WiFi.

Thank you for all your help. I'm really grateful for all your guidance.
