Unless you live in a rather smokey environment there shouldn't be a reason to suspect a dirty laser. If this is only happening on one disc, it may be the fault of the disc. The Denon 2910's had a bit of a problem with transports but if this is just one disc, I wouldn't suspect that either. Your post reads as if this is just a problem with Hi-rez discs and Redbook CD's are OK. Does the Denon set up and play the Redbook layer of the NJ disc? Does it set up at all on SACD's or just refuse to gather subcode information altogether?
Hi Jan, yes I'm a pretty heavy smoker, and yes its just with the Norah Jones SACD and a new copy of Dark Side of the Moon SACD-they just won't load - can hear the motor spinning crazily then LCD shows 000000 - ocassionally normal Cds do the same, then I just eject and try again to fix the problem - looks like its phillips head screwdriver time!!!
Michael...
Thanks jan for the tip about the smokey environment-just took the Denon apart - my word was it filthy in there!!! Now both Norah and Pink Floyd playing happily Thanks again!!!
Cool!
Well done, guys
