"No company has done more to vigorously fly the audio tricolor as has Focal-JMlab," declares Paul Bolin, who visits the Focal factory and then reviews the Focal-JMlab Nova Utopia Be loudspeaker. PB adds, "One thing about the Utopia line has not changed: the exquisite level of finish." But what about the sound?

Also from the June issue, Robert J. Reina writes about the $990/pair Jean-Marie Reynaud Twin Mk.III loudspeaker. RJR says, "Although relatively new to America, Jean-Marie Reynaud has been designing and manufacturing high-end speakers in France since 1967."

Next, Michael Fremer takes a listen to the Audio Physic Kronos loudspeaker, noting, "Thirty-one flavors may work for an ice-cream chain, but a speaker manufacturer who sets out to please every sonic palate ends up with a serious identity crisis, pleasing no-one." As MF explains, this particular speaker flavor may be pricey, but it's tasty too.

Finally, we have Stereophile's Recording of June 2004, J.S. Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I. David Patrick Stearns writes, "To those who listen to Bach casually, this new recording of the Well-Tempered Clavier, by Till Fellner, is sheer pleasure."
