Why does every thread on these forums turn into a pissing match?

Ahhh... Great Buddha, when I posed the question, I should have realized that the answer lies within. Thank you for enlightening me. I bow before greatness (Gong)

Given the shady use of innuendo concerning shills:

Just to be clear, I'm nobody's shill. I call them as I see them and have no financial or business connection to Ethan in any way. I've been on the net helping people free of charge for more than 10 years.

I came here to discuss the mic test, and for some casual conversation.

Interesting to note the players, their style, and if they have a financial interest. The drama! LOL

Okay, who? Spill. And what does this have to do with me?

Folks, watch as Steve side-steps and avoids this direct question.

Really? I was hoping you were smart enough to get the drift without me having to embarrass you in front of everyone, and the possibility of this being tossed into the dead zone, which is your best option now.

He happens to be a federal investigator, for 28 years, and has been examining this string, Upgrade Paths, on Audio Circle, your website, and your your own forum. I have learned alot from his opinions, of course, since he is an expert in investigating, interviews, interrogations, human nature etc.

By the way, if one reads through this string, you seem to be the one sidestepping the issues, dodging just about every issue with standardized general replies, and getting someone else to answer for you.

Keep making a fool out of yourself Ethan.

And now more innuendo to imply I'm under Federal investigation. Un-f'in-believable.

OK, time to liven things up.

Given the abomination that is the Cheney/Bush regime, I figure we are all under federal surveillance, anyway.

It's our patriotic duty to be willing to be under surveillance at all freakin' times, so no worries, Ethan!

Bastages.

Told not to divulge anymore information.

Unless you can refute the evidence I provided, I will not post again.

Isn't it our civic duty to give up Ethan as a conspirator? He uses room treatments to block reflections, thus impeding the sound's freedom of movement! I think that such Unamerican activities have to be reported. This criminal behavior must cease immediately! Someone call the investigators! Err.. wait... SASAudio already did. Good job! Let's hang 'em high!

Well, if we are going to hang him, then we should start evaluating ropes to see which type will be optimal.

We could start with measuring things like tensile strength and such, but that would be using Ethan's own methods to do him in. By using those measurements, we would only be validating Ethan's philosophy.

I say we start by subjectively evaluating various ropes and collect anecdotal data regarding which rope works best for others.

Then, after we chose a rope, we'll have to determine which knot is best. And I already know how controversial knots in things can be among audiophiles, so we should get started right away.

Then, we'll need to debate a purpose built gallows vs. tree limb vs. other options.

Then, do we drop him from a platform, tall chair, horse, or other conveyance?

Since we are audiophiles, I suspect that by the time we have universal agreement on the best way to hang Ethan, he will have died comfortably at a ripe old age.

I agree in principle except for the measurement part: Tensile strength and other aspects don't tell the whole story, and sometimes don't even matter. So, I propose that we rely strictly on anecdotal evidence and whoever doesn't agree will get to hang right alongside Ethan.
