Zzzzzzzzzz
Streaming has taken over CD sales which does not surprise me. I am curious as I have Tidal HiFI (CD Quality?). My download speed in 860 mbps. I can say that the quality of tidal HiFi is not the same as the same CD played through my computer. Has anyone else experienced this, and if not, it may be my USB interfaces holding Tidal HiFi back.
It’s the sign of the times. I read somewhere, dunno if it’s true or not, that jazz and classical music sales combined only account for 2% of sales.
... John Darko notes: "No, vinyl did not outsell CDs in the UK in 2022"

====== QUOTE below =======
... a report by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) published last week provides greater clarity on sales data:
“There were 11.6 million CDs and 5.5 million vinyl LPs purchased across the year, as well as 195,000 cassettes and 3.7 million album downloads. Vinyl LPs represented 31.7% of all physical purchases as sales grew for a 15th consecutive year and reached their highest level in over 30 years (stretching back to 1990).”
Read it again: 11.6m CDs and 5.5m vinyl LPs.
In other words, in the UK in 2022, CDs outsold vinyl two-to-one. In 2021, it was closer to three-to-one with 14m CDs and 5m vinyl LPs sold.
Just as the LuxuriousBelt™ did not outsell the BudgetBelt™ in our thought experiment, vinyl did NOT outsell CDs in the UK last year.
