Hi!
I am thinking of upgrading my system and give some more juice to my speakers…
Currently I am running my B&W 803D2 with Primaluna Dialogue Premium HP int. with KT150.
I have found this combo very engaging and really have no complaints except I cannot reach the high level to enjoy orchestras play.
As always there is the budget factor that destroys ones dreams however, this time I have decided to opt for a good (possibly 1 time buy) power amp and a decent low budget pre till some $$ can be saved.
The pre will be the PRO-JECT PRE BOX DS2 ANALOGUE so, good or not it is a choice for not getting an integrated again.
Main question is for the power amps.
At the price point I can extent, following are considered:
- Bryston 4B3 cubed series
- Rotel Michi S5
- Gato PWR-222 High End Mono Power Amplifier (x2)
- McIntosh MC462
At the end step (after changing the pre), I do not want to lose the warmth, clarity, and stage I get with my current setup. Also, the full bodied music I can hear at ridiculously low levels.
At best I will be able to hear the Bryston and the Gato. The other are only available on order.
Personally I am a bit in favor for the Bryston. It is not the most powerful in the group but, not sure if I will miss the 2 dB I.e. compared to Rotel if it’s sound comes closer to the tubes one. I should be able to audition next month…
Any ideas / comments?
Cheers
