My Stereo Reciever burned out and I'm at a loss

Hey, first timer here, I've got some things that I'd like to clarify for myself, and I'm at a loss. I have a pair of Yamaha NS-50F, which while not in the fancy-pants realm of speakers, to my ears sound lovely, paired with a Tangent AMP-200, hooked up to a UMC404HD audio interface/Sony CDP-295. For my current needs (and current budget) it's more than enough. Sadly the reciever started crapping out recently, the volume control works in mysterious ways, where the volume doesn't really change, but rather the sound gets looser and saggier + a lovely hiss, the balance knobs do god knows what, where while at the center it sounds sort of fine, but upon checking the L or R speaker the sound is just awful, not to mention incredibly quiet. Anyhow, my first instinct was to get it repaired, but afterwards I wondered if it may be better to just get a new, albeit "entry-level" reciever, the likes of Sony STR-DH190 or Yamaha A-S201. Now the question comes into play - is repairing my current reciever worth it, or should I just get a new Sony/Yamaha one? All I want is to listen to my music in at least somewhat decent quality after work, and now I'm deprived even of that. Also, please don't throw me into the fire for my gear choices. Thanks in advance for any replies!

By receiver, are you

By receiver, are you referring to the Tangent (an integrated amp)? If so, the Yamaha A-S201 integrated might be a suitable modern replacement but the Sony receiver probably will not suffice.

Yes I meant the amp, pardon

Yes I meant the amp, pardon the confusion. If You don't mind elaborating, what would be the main difference between the Sony and the Yamaha? I checked the speaker out impendances of both to be sure that it's all compatible with my towers, the wattage per channel seems about the same, harmonic distortion will be roughly similar I suppose, is it just down to quality of manufacture? Or is there an audible difference in sound? Sorry for so many questions, I have nobody to ask this sort of stuff, well, at least nobody who won't scuff and advise to sell my car and get a decent upgrade :)

Based only on the general

Based only on the general reputation of such low-cost receivers.

Three years ago I bought a wonderful Cambridge Audio Topaz SR10 (open box) for $270. If you look around you can find either a deal or something gently used for the same amount as the amps you're looking at.

Just curious, are you sending

Just curious, are you sending the CD through the Behringer then into the amp? If so, why?
