Hey, first timer here, I've got some things that I'd like to clarify for myself, and I'm at a loss. I have a pair of Yamaha NS-50F, which while not in the fancy-pants realm of speakers, to my ears sound lovely, paired with a Tangent AMP-200, hooked up to a UMC404HD audio interface/Sony CDP-295. For my current needs (and current budget) it's more than enough. Sadly the reciever started crapping out recently, the volume control works in mysterious ways, where the volume doesn't really change, but rather the sound gets looser and saggier + a lovely hiss, the balance knobs do god knows what, where while at the center it sounds sort of fine, but upon checking the L or R speaker the sound is just awful, not to mention incredibly quiet. Anyhow, my first instinct was to get it repaired, but afterwards I wondered if it may be better to just get a new, albeit "entry-level" reciever, the likes of Sony STR-DH190 or Yamaha A-S201. Now the question comes into play - is repairing my current reciever worth it, or should I just get a new Sony/Yamaha one? All I want is to listen to my music in at least somewhat decent quality after work, and now I'm deprived even of that. Also, please don't throw me into the fire for my gear choices. Thanks in advance for any replies!
