May be Tony from Venice could attend the show and tell us about the sound quality ....... Sarasota, Florida is less than 20 miles from Venice, Florida :-) .........

rschryer's picture

We could live vicariously through you, Tony. Just don't break anything. :-)

Whaddaya say?

Bogolu Haranath's picture

Looks like there is no turntable in that photo ....... So, Tony probably won't break anything :-) ........

volvic's picture

They carry Avid, Luxman and VPI turntables, just in case Tony wanders into the other showrooms ;)

Bogolu Haranath's picture

Yes, I know ...... Suncoast has an impressive list of brands they represent :-) .........

Maybe use a couple of headless RME ADI-2 Pro FS AD/DA converters and an AES3 digital interconnection room to room.

The RME ADI-2 Pro FS is currently on sale, widely available at $1499/each. Monoprice 3-pin DMX Lighting & AES/EBU cable is available in a variety of lengths from 5_ft for $4.75 to 100_ft for $31.24

edit: I think they can run headless, but I did not read the manual. Verify before you buy.

drblank's picture

Plus, MBL doesn't make turntables, so they have no obligation to have a picture of one when this is a MBL road show showing off MBL products.

tonykaz's picture

Thank you for thinking of me but my schedule is rather overfilled until November's 2020 Election.

Dealer Visits are gap fillers for me now-a-days. Plus, my rule is to make a purchase of some sort so they don't think of me as time waster, especially if they have something wonderful ( something "Must-Have" ).

I suspect that this Dealer will be hoping to sell a couple of Big Mbl Systems so it'll probably be better to visit this place when YOU fly in and don't want to go directly to the Beach for a Crown Royal drenched Sunset at Fins.

I've done scads of these Shows where we try to look relaxed but we're under immense Sales Pressures, I wouldn't want to "trifle" these folks by trying to look interested and falsely attentive. I've heard the Mbl system, it's wonderful, I'm not a buyer.

Now, if we got an invite to visit Bob Katz, we'd be onto something "especial" and well worth going pretty dam far outa our way to experience. ( or PS Audio's Big IRS v.5 for that matter )

For my part, I aspire to a high performance Mediocre far more than high performance Electronic Sculptures in Precious Metals. My systems need to disappear. ( although Chord is other-worldly beautiful and desirable, could I be sooooooooo lucky? ) ( or a LUXMAN 300B amp, phewwwwww )

Tony in Venice

ps. lots of nice, cheap, Allegiant Flights outa and into Sarasota now-a-days. ( you might not return home, once you're here )

Bogolu Haranath's picture

Luxman SQ-N150 tube integrated amp ($2,795) was favorably reviewed by KM in the Dec. 2019 issue of Stereophile ....... KM used Klipsch Forte III speakers to evaluate the Luxman, in addition to other speakers :-) .........

Isit possible? Don Cherry, Canada's Bantam Rooster, is gone, fired, kaput along with blood on the ice.

I never listened to the colorful guy, just turn off the sound and take in the Clothes but they're say'n that he was kinda the Archie Bunker of the Frozen North. Hmmmm. We're gonna do that with our Agent Orange, I hope.

Tony in Venice

rschryer's picture

...intolerant and curmudgeonly, then yeah, he was (is) Canada's Archie Bunker.

Don's racist blather finally caught up to him. You can't say those things on live TV.

Surprised you're keeping track of Canadian news out there in the tropics, Tony. Montreal just saw its first snowstorm. Yippee! (Not!)

Time to gather around those tube amps...

JRT's picture

For example, the CBC radio show, "As It Happens" is broadcast from 11:00PM to midnight on WAMC in Albany NY.

Last night, on November 11, the main story on that show was about the firing of Don Cherry.

https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/writer-who-said-it-s-time-to-say-goodbye-to-don-cherry-surprised-he-was-actually-fired-1.5355497

I never heard of the name before the firing. It would be a good name for a character in a film sequel to Tarantino's "Jackie Brown", maybe an illegitimate son of bailbondsman Max Cherry and the scheming murderous convicted felon Jackie Brown.

rschryer's picture

Readers may not know (or care) but from 1974 to 1979 Don Cherry was head coach of the Big Bad Bruins, archrivals of the Montreal Canadians.

And now back to our regular programming...

JRT's picture

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts in the Albany NY broadcast media market. The broadcast tower for WAMC is not in Albany NY, but rather is on Mt Greylock in Adams Massachusetts. WAMC used to lease space on the tower, and bought the tower several years ago from Albany's WTEN TV. WTEN used to broadcast both VHF and UHF, and had used that tower for their UHF broadcast, RF spectrum now used for other purposes.

Jason Victor Serinus's picture

Amherst grad here. Maybe we can say hello if I ever get back there.

JRT's picture

I think that might be interesting, and would look forward to that.

I am currently listening to a jazz program on WFCR FM in Amherst (8pm-11pm, weeknights), on one of the local repeater stations. The main station is too far away. I have some good tuners, but need a better antenna.

WFCR began as Five College Radio, UMass, Amherst, Hampshire, Smith and Mt Holyoke. It's now part of a larger NEPR, New England Public Radio.

Mis-remembered something.
Removed it.

G&M has been part of my daily read, which includes Reuters, New York Times, Guardian ( UK ), Algjazeera, and of course RT.

Gotta be informed in America, the greatest Country in the United States!

Tony in Venice

ps. I just heard about the 9 Feet of Snow from my Michigan brother in Davisburg. He suffers with 300 feet of driveway to clear. We have Canadians here but we haven't seen any Frozen North migrating Robins ( what's keeping em? ).

ps. 2) have you tried one of the 300b amps ? Now that the 300B tubes are being manufactured again, the amps should become widely available like that Kit that our Mr.HR revealed this very year.

volvic's picture

Only in Canada would a hockey commentator be held to a higher standard than the Prime Minister.

JRT's picture

Tony will need an early start, and he will need to pull a large trailer if he want to bring home those large objects.

Just kidding about in the latter about the trailer. I expect that they deliver, and probably include setup in the pricing.

tonykaz's picture

Betcha they'd deliver or "Drop-Ship" right from the Factory.

I just had a BBQ delivered.

It's dangerous to Shop at places like Suncoast. My wife would try to Chaperone me.

Lots & lots of very nice stuff to front burner prioritize .

Tandem bicycle?

Bogolu Haranath's picture

Good idea ...... Less work and more horse power :-) ........

tonykaz's picture

No way, I can barely peddle "me" around, pulling an added 135 lbs would kill me. I'd need a Pedego with a 500 watt motor assist to haul around an extra loading like that.

Tony in Venice

ps. My cardiologist wants me to keep peddling and won't endorse a nice Lion Battery Pedego Bicycle. ( maybe when I'm 85 )

tonykaz's picture

I intend to visit this important "by appointment" Dealer at some future time as part of a small group of interesteds but I won't be making any insightful comments other than polite platitudes. ( probably )

However

I am now an active ( on the road ) member of the Sanders Transportation Support Group which again becomes my primary responsibility. " Medicare for all" is serious work.

I'll continue to have Stereophile as part of my recreational readings & writings. ( along with a few other fascinating specialty interests )

Suncoast feature a few of my favorite Brands: Audioquest ( I typically give Dragonflys as gifts ), LUXMAN is 100% Lust, MIT Cabling and a few others that I've personally owned, represented and value which includes ortofon, naim, PASS, and vpi.

Suncoast Audio caters to an Elite Group of Snowbird Clientele, their location is extravagantly wealthy on a Global Scale. ( they are within bicycle distance, which would present a realistic impression of my worthiness as a future client/customer : nearly nil! )

Tony in Venice

ps. I'm such an Impulsive buyer that I could "insist" on owning a Luxman Electronics Tube group ( if they have one on display ). How could I explain that to Mrs. Bible thumper/ "She who must be obeyed"? Phew

Bogolu Haranath's picture

Great, Tony ...... Suncoast Audio is also a dealer for B&W, in addition to other famous brands ....... Since you mentioned about B&W in another forum, you could also get a chance to listen to those speakers :-) .......

tonykaz's picture

These guys will be demoing Mbl & Digital ( probably ), not Vinyl or B&W stuff.

I've heard and owned B&W, I won't need to refresh my opinions, will I?

These people show plenty of product representation, how much product do they have ? , one day I'll find out but not in this next few weeks. I'm figuring that every piece they have on the Floor will eventually be sold a used gear, how do they carry it? I'll discover later.

What does that entail?

tonykaz's picture

Transportation Systems is/are how people get from one place to another.

Transportation is expensive and complex.

A group of us Transportation retirees keep things going smoothly.

I'm fiduciary, I sign things with big $$$$$ attached. I guard against grabby scandals.

We'll make sure everyone has a Plane Seat and clears Security properly with Surface Transportation arranged and in good order.

For the most part, we are well behind the scenes and nearly invisible. NO SPOTLIGHTS for us and since we are competent & experienced we solve our problems pretty far in advance.

Even 9" of Snow doesn't disrupt our Show.

Morale is high, it feels like we're part of something big!

But, overall we are a small part of whats happening.

Forcing other people to do what you want them to. This is called democracy.

volvic's picture

Keep your fingers away from the stylus. Know how much you despise those Koetsus.

tonykaz's picture

Ahhhhhh Koetsu, my first true love.

or is it: absence makes the heart grow fond.

These are not Koetsu people, are they? They are ortolon, van den hul and probably a few others that I have no interest in .

Thanks for writing,

Tony in Venice

ps. I've had my Brain Cells re-wired for RedBook, I'm a lucky so-and-so! ( I don't have to spend $50 for Vinyl that will get stored for inheritors ) I'm freed, I am no longer hoarding vinyls.

Ortofan's picture

... Harbeth P3ESR speakers.
Then, pedal over to Best Buy for a Yamaha A-S701 integrated amp and a Marantz CD5005 CD player - the same equipment that Alan Shaw uses to demo those speakers at UK audio shows.

By the way, if you're part of the Bernie support staff, does that make you part of the AOC support staff, as well?

Bogolu Haranath's picture

Tony could be the replacement for Saikat who recently resigned :-) ........

tonykaz's picture

AOC is also part of the Bernie Group, as far as I know ( I shouldn't know much because I don't work with any politicals ). I might just say that AOC is a Powerful Orator ( perhaps more-so than Obama ). Look out when this gal hits her 50s. ( she has high talent writers and staff, she's well supported, she's a Rock Star everywhere she goes!! ).

Harbeth & Yamaha + Marantz. Probably nice gear.

However...

I'm migrating or immigrating deep into the 21st Century type functionality and Gear Groups.

I still have nostalgic feelings for Audible Illusions and Conrad-Johnson MV-45a annnnnnd Magnepan MG2s.

We have unprecedented amounts of wonderful performing Audio Gear in all Price Levels. The lower priced gear seems to be built for High performance with High priced gear delivering gorgeous casework ( Chord ).

But...

This next Generation Streaming Gear will change the way we think about being Audiophiles ( I think ).

Tony in Venice

...was never better then when elaborating on garbage disposals.

tonykaz's picture

Venice Florida homes don't seem to have Garbage Disposals, ( mine didn't come with one ) but the City has twice per week pick-up of Food Garbage and only once per week pick-up of re-cycle.

My wife seems to not miss the Insinkerator but I want a big 2hp unit that's quiet. Am I a Neanderthal ?

Tony in Venice

Ortofan's picture

... 2HP? Go for the 10HP commercial model.

Florida has flying meat eaters, we could simply put our scraps out for the local animals. Like they do in NY,NY

Tony in Venice

ps. then again, seems like I'm flying around the Country with a whole lot of flying meat eaters, aren't I ???

Bogolu Haranath's picture

When Tony becomes the chief of staff to Greta Thunberg, he will be flying with the vegans :-) ........

John, Thank you for posting the link. That was a very interesting interview.

Suncoast_Audio's picture

Hi everyone,

The event will be from 1-5pm at Suncoast Audio this Saturday (November 16). We will be featuring the incredible MBL 101 Xtreme Reference system with the MBL 9011 amps, 6010D preamp, 1611F DAC and 1621 A transport. We will also be showing an Avid Acutus Turntable with a My Sonic Labs Ultra Eminent MC Cartridge and Avid phonostage. Finally, a Studer 810 Reel to Reel, completely rebuilt by John French in New Jersey with Flux heads and a Doshi Tape Pre v3 will be used as sources.

As for why the store is "by appointment only", it's to ensure we can put together the system, properly setup for those who wish to audition certain products. Often we have to move 3 or 4 different products from different showrooms to pull together the exact system someone wants to hear. We also have completely different sized show rooms, so we try to match as close to someones home listening environment as possible. Obviously, people are free to come by, the store hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm. Myself or one of my employees are always on hand to assist and show people around the store and I'm always a phone call away.

Hopefully we will see you all on Saturday!
