fedex truck arrived this morning with my new maggie LRS speakers. Been listening to them for about two hours. I've never heard anything like them. I've been an audiophile for 50 years and I've heard lots of speakers. These speakers give the impression that I'm "listening back" thru the system to the amplifier and CD player! At first I had my sub playing with them but all the sub did was muddy them up. This tells me something important; a dynamic sub in a wooden box isn't good enough for these speakers. Maybe a planar sub would be, but since I don't have one I don't know. Magnepan has accomplished something truly important with these speakers. Groundbreaking sound quality for 700 dollars a pair. A lot of people with five figure dynamic speakers in a wooden box are going to be very disillusioned if they hear these speakers. Only thing is now I'll have to buy an expensive amp in order to really appreciate them. I always said all amps sound the same. Apparently I was wrong. But how could I have known that having only listened to overpriced dynamic speakers in wooden boxes? This speaker is a revolution. My audiophile skeptic days are now officially over.Can't wait to buy an overpriced high-end amplifier.How about that for cool?
