I would like to upgrade 105/3. I saw good speakers on used market and need help chosing.
Would you buy the KEF 207 for 2500$ or KEF 207/2 for 4500$.
Also, is it worth upgrading the 105/3 bcos I am very happy with them.

The Kef 105/3 is an excellent speaker system. Changing to the 207 would be a very small improvement, if any.

It does, however, have a low-frequency limit of 49 Hz.

My advice would be to invest in a good subwoofer to get some bass in your system, if you do not have one.

I had the R105/3 for 25 years and once I broke down and bought some decent components to go with them I was happy. The difference between the ancient 105/3 and 207/2 is HUGE and if you can grab a pair for $4500 and your room is big enough do it! The bass in your speakers is mia without a 2nd amp driving the bass thru the kube and then to get audible low bass output the distortion gets pretty bad. The 2nd gen uniq had some significant midrange coloration also denying male vocals of their natural weight, I considered the R105/3's flaws well worth living with for all they did better than anything else, but speakers have gotten better across the board and we don't have to compromise as much now as we did in 1990. I say go for it!
