The cartridge you have is a very good cartridge, which apparently sells for around $350, and it may be hard to beat without spending a lot of money. How old is it?
The Benz Micro Gold is what I have, and it is excellent; it sells for around $600.
It's probably 10 or so years old. Someone recommended that I just replace the stylus for $279?

Would something like the $650 Dynavector 10x5 that Art Dudley raved about be 1) a good match for my tonearm, and 2) substantially better sounding?
Have you tried cleaning your albums ultrasonically (i.e. cavitation method) and, then using a preservative (e.g. Last)? I'm assuming here that you do all the usual stuff (i.e. cleaning your stylus before every play & at the end of every listening session; using a good quality record brush before & after every play; using good quality anti-static record sleeves; etc.). The other thing you could try is buying a new cartridge and having it set-up by a pro. Good luck!
