I think you have pretty good Yamaha equipment. If I recall, those units were available in the mid 90s. I demo'd similar gear when I bought my first system. I opted for Carver instead because I wanted multi-channel. Could be different models than what I listened to but older Yamaha preamps and amps sound pretty darn good. The question is going to be how good is the condition of that equipment and what you explicitly like about the sound.
The Rogue is going to be highly detailed and is going to probably be a bit more forward than what you have. It will sound really good and probably be more nuanced but I can't answer whether you will like it better than your existing equipment.
What I would do is order the Rogue from Needledoctor who has a 30 day return policy. If you don't like it, send it back.
Hi,
Thank you for your comments, I need all the help I can get on this( not really up on new systems).
The Yamaha C45 has been repaired twice(phono stage), no problem with the M45.Just would like to take advantage of a trade-in while I still had something to trade. Just purchased a new tt(Planar 6) and was hoping a new system would give me a better phono stage. Is my thinking wrong on this? Would this not give me a better phono stage?
You will get a better phono stage with a new amplifier. Internal phono stages are not always the very best but Rogue's are better than most. Those speakers are pretty efficient if the manual I found is correct and you don't need a lot of power to get "turn them up to 11". You should also look at the Rega Elex R. Especially if you have a Rega Cartridge on that P6. The Brio is also outstanding and will deliver the power you need for those speakers. The Elex will be a little more refined and give you tighter bass.

The Rega Elex-R looks very good. What headphone preamp would you recommend with this amp(Elex)? I have the Grado 225.
Thanks
Hi,
Well I upgraded to the Sphinx v2. It is a nice amp and sounds very nice. My Yamaha M45 amp burned up, so it all worked out good.
Thanks for your help

Glad to hear the Rogue is meeting your needs. Thanks for sharing.
