Sometimes on these forums audiophiles give answers that aren't complete or aren't based on a lot of personal experience. I'm not sure if the member above has any personal experience with the Yamaha NS-L225, but let me share some info that might help. Yamaha bookshelf speakers are used in two realms. One leans more toward the home listener and the other the professional mastering engineer. One way to tell the difference is if the speaker uses the white woofer design or not. Yamaha years ago designed an excellent woofer that many recording studios used as their reference near-field monitor. This technology was used in the famous NS-10 for example. Yamaha used this design in several different models for both home and pro. Honestly there are listeners out there that can not live without the Yamaha White Speaker just like there are some who can't live without the JBL counterpart. IMO as much as I don't enjoy some of these companies speaker attempts at home listening, when their pro designers get in on the designing some very good sounding speakers are made. In the case of Yamaha's speakers using the white woofer design, I would at least give them a serious consideration. I've owned and used at least 5 of their models. The NS-L225 being one.
