I inherited my father's old McIntosh 240 amp and a Mac preamp that he bought at the same time back who know's when (this thing is pretty old). To make a long story short, I'm moving to Europe long term with my girlfriend for a teaching position and want to bring these amps with me. Talked with some dealers who suggested selling and buying something 220-240V. That's out of the questions for sentimental reasons. Both amps are rated for 110-120V and 50 or 60 Hz. A guitar amp tech I know suggested a voltage trasformer by an American company called ACUPWR. Claims they are the best but I want to know if anybody is aware of them.
Thanks. Also curious who else has moved with a fixed voltage amp and who it's working out.

You just need a power transformer that will use the 240V mains voltage and step it down to 120V for your amplifier.

The key is getting one rated for the wattage that your amp will use. That one is rated for 270 watts of AC power usage at full power, so you should get one rated for 300 watts or more.

Amazon has the PowerBright VC500W 500 watt model for only $25. That is what I would suggest.

You can plug the amplifier right into it. You will need to obtain a cord to go from the 240 volt wall outlet to its 240 volt jack, but that should not be too difficult. Any electrical shop should be able to make one for you.

At one place Amazon says the weight is only one pound; that is not true. The actual weight, which can be found further on in the specs, is around 8 pounds.

popular with our brave military brothers & sisters who find themselves stationed overseas.

This unit seems to be rather overpriced.
