Upside Down: More Marketing, Less Music.

And if it’s marketing you seek, SXSW has become a paradise for anyone hungry for eyeballs. To advertise their new horror show, Preacher, which involves entities inhabiting religious figures in West Texas, AMC set up this heretical display which was clearly not inexpensive and was fun to marvel over but what exactly is the message here? Hmmmm?

Sacreligious for sure!

I see the church, but not the steeple. Let's open the doors and see if there's any people.

Those entities have inhabited you as well. You will be so fascinated and vexed by this image that you will devote an entire blog to it on Stereophile.com.

Sorry, you set me up!

Looks like the world's largest phono cartridge. Probably puts out tremendous bass.

Of course, this prop is made of styrofoam.

Still, god has been giving Atheists all the good stuff, over the last 3 or 4 Hundred Years. Stuff like Electricity, Airplanes, the Periodic Table, E=MC, etc.

Religion is hanging in there ( my Wife is an Ordained Minister ). They still have a significant clientele of "True Believers" for their superstitions despite Jesus being an Orthodox Jew and not a Christian.

Oh well.

Tony, an Orthodox Jew would not call the leaders of the synagogue a bunch of hypocrites and sinners. (Or would he? oy...) Our lesson from that is to always question authority. As to JC being a Christian, is Donald Trump a follower of Donald Trump? And that's not even a trick question.

Jason Victor Serinus's picture

Jesus Christ was a Christian devoted to putting the Christ into Christmas, and Donald Trump is a Trumpian whose ultimate triumph may include re-visioning the White House as a Whites-Only Trump House. Needless to say, the two men reside on totally different moral planes. Jesus was about love, compassion, respect, and moral force. (Ghandi called it Soul Force.) Trump is about obliterating all of the above with nothing short of brute force.

Up until now I had totally ignored the things that people said were scaring them, i.e. the gestures and general style that appeal to His audiences, but yesterday for the first time I watched a full speech. Now I see what they're talking about. Fascinating stuff. If I had more interest in the subject, it might be instructive to watch some films or plays that depict old-timey prophets like John the Baptist, to see if their presentation style differs much from The Donald's.

but a tricky question we are trying to answer.

Certainly the Elephants are trying to Crucify "the Donald", he's become the Poster Child for the angry white unemployed and underpaid Republican class that make-up 50% of their Base: the group who's jobs were sent to China and Mexico.

We are seeing the most exciting Political Event of our lifetimes, I'm already taking bets that he gets no more than 40% of the voting in November. I'm also betting the Elephants loose the Senate!

ps. I've been a lifelong Republican, that is until 2008 when Obama saved the Auto Industry and secured my loyalty.

I wonder if they got the steeple rake angle right.
