I'm sure many who visit these forums do indeed make things up. There are also a lot of guys who make statements when they have never investigated the info given. That speaks more to them than it does the people they flame, comes with a loosely monitored forum. However, why would a designer (myself) who designs and builds up to million dollar listening rooms, talk about anything other than his findings? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Didn't know FUNAI made a reciever so good luck with that. As for the player, don't get the current model as it is OK but not much compared to the Magnavox/FUNAI version with the model numbers I mentioned. The board on the older design has a different layout.

I have several CDP's that range in price, so the $1000.00 comment doesn't make the impression your hoping for sorry. Not sure why a hobbyist would try to impress me with numbers. Sorry, but you buying a front end that cost less than $50.00-$100.00 to build marked up to you at $1000.00, doesn't make the impact vs a product that cost $12.00 to build marked up maybe double or more, to me. That's mostly a marketing and mass production issue. Also it's my right to choose any player I wish correct? Whether it be my $6000.00 player or the $29.00 player is really a decision for me and anyone else who wishes to try tuning.

Fact is, I personally have not seen anyone who went from their $1000.00 + players to the $29.00 once tuned, reverse their decision, but that's up to them of course.

But it wasn't until David brings up the plastic computer speakers, that we all can see his motive. Sorry David, but the speakers I use these players with range from $499.00 to $15,000.00 currently. So again your point is a little muddy, except that for some reason you are disapointed to see a bargin product beatup on those costing far more. Why that would set you or anyone off is the mystery here.

As far as Toledo goes, I only know him as a gentleman listener.

Excellent post. Sometimes high end audio audiophiles would do themselves a favor by learning what in-tune and out-of-tune sounds like, and learn how to recognize this in their listening to play-back, and more importantly what to do when they do hear it. It's a new ball game when we become sensitive to harmonic structures.
